The first apple went in... but on the second one he winced out in pain, so he was killed.

Little Johnny was 7 years oldand like other boyshis age rather curious.He had been hearing quite a bitabout 'making out'from the older boys, and he wondered what it was and how it was done.One day he took his question to his mother, whobe came rather flustered. Instead of explaining things to Johnny, she told him to hide behind the curtains one night and watch his older sister andher boyfriend.This he did. The following morning,Johnny described EVERYTHING to his mother.

"Sis and her boyfriend sat and talked for a while,then he turned off most of the lights.Then he started kissing and hugging her. I figured 'Sis mustbe getting sick, because her face started looking funny.He must have thought so too, because he put his hand inside her blouse to feel her heart,just the way the doctor would. Except he's not as smart as the doctor because he seemed to have trouble finding her heart. I guess he was getting sick too,because pretty soon both of them started panting and getting all out of breath.His other hand must have been cold because he put it under her skirt.About this time 'Sis got worse and began to moan and sigh and squirm around and slide down toward the end of the couch. This was when her fever started. I knew it was a fever, because Sis told him she felt really hot.Finally, I found out what was making them so sick......-a big eel ;

had gotten inside his pants somehow. It just jumped out of his pants and stood there, about 10 inches long, honest, anyway he grabbed it in one hand to keep it from getting away.When Sis saw it, she got really scared-her eyes got big, and her mouth fell open, and she started calling out to God and stuff like that. She said it was the biggest one she's ever seen;

Anyway, Sis got brave and tried to kill the eel by biting its head off. All of a sudden she grabbed it with both hands and held it tight while he took a muzzle out of his pocket and slipped it over the eel's head to keep it from biting again.Sis lay back and spread her legs so she could get a scissor-lock on it and he helped by lying on topof the eel. The eel put up a hell of a fight. Sis started groaning and squealing and her boyfriend almost upset the couch. I guess they wanted to kill the eel by squashing it between them. After a while they both quit moving and gave a great sigh. Her boyfriend got up, and sure enough,they killed the eel. I knew because it just hung there, limp, and some of its insides were hanging out. Sis and her boyfriend were a little tired from the battle, but they went back to courting anyway. He started hugging and kissing her again. By golly, the eel wasn't dead! It jumped straight up and started to fight again. I guess eels are like cats- they have ninelives or something. This time, Sis jumped up and tried to kill it by sitting on it. After about a 35 minute struggle, they finally killed the eel. I knew it was dead, because I saw Sis's boyfriend peel its skin off and flush it down the toilet.

Okay so I finally received a reply from Ong CheeMing, the dude in charge of the NE project nonsense. So the reply I received was this:
You group includes *, ** and *** . I understand that *** has left. Hence, I will leave it to yourselves as a mentor group to decide if you would like to reorganise the groupings. You may also like to discuss this with your mentor if necessary. Mr Ong

So what I understand is this: we can STILL change groups however we want to AS LONG AS it does not exceed 5 people. So if you wanna join up with your good friends or want to add another person to your group, you can still do so.

The session scheduled from 6 - 10 Mar is CANCELLED! This is due to a delay in the schedule on the side of our external collaborators. As it is expected that work can only be done in late Apr/May, there are some implications for your group's NE projects.

(1) You will need to submit their NE projects as with the rest of the cohort on 17 Apr 2006 (first day of next semester). However you are free to choose any topic of their choice as long as it fits the theme of "Traditional Medicine in Singapore". You are no longer bound by TCM as a theme and can change your previously committed titles if you want to.

(2) Students who are trained by the Botanic Gardens previously are still required to help with the collaboration project with SCDA. These students will be granted attendance in lieu of ALL future NE activities for the work done in Apr/May i.e. they would have fulfilled NE requirements without requiring to attend any more talks or learning journeys. This involvement is COMPULSORY for those who are trained because of the understanding that SCDA has paid for your training.

(3) For the students who are NOT trained by the Botanic Gardens, if you volunteer to help with the work in Apr/May, you will also be given the same concessions i.e. you can also be granted attendance in lieu of all their remaining NE activities. However, this will NOT be compulsory for you.

The time slot for Apr/May SCDA project will be during wed afternoons, free periods or even weekends of your term time.

Doreen, please help me collate the response. (Please note tht for those who have been trained, this commitment is compulsory). Let me know by 10 Mar 2006.

NE project - TCM preservation project with SCDA

Hello.. those of you who have volunteered for the TCM preservation project (with SCDA), do you still remember who you are?

We have 3 groups:

Doreen's group (MB0502)
Chin Siong's group (MB0502)
Yogeswari's group (MB0502)

Those are in these groups are to come back to school from 6 - 10 March.
Meet at Q.605 at 9.30 am on 6 Mar (Mon).
All the members in the groups must come, NOT just the representatives. This is because the preservation work will start straightaway on Monday.
We hope to finish all the work by the end of the week.

Altogther there are about 60 herbs to preserve and put on display. Each group will be in charge of about 7 - 8 different herbs. The write-up about the description of each herb will also be given to you.

You should also plan to work on your NE project during the same week so as to save time. You might like to bring cameras to take photos of the herbs.
You are also required to submit a picture book on any aspect of TCM on top of the work done for SCDA.

If the effort to do this TCM project is a lot, Mr Ong may consider crediting one more NE activity for this project.

What Your Ears Hear...Or Was That Fear?

You guys done your cell bio e-prac for week 4? The procedures for that e-prac really rocked didnt it? The words spoken were all soo crisp and sharp we could all hear what he was saying ya? Its amazing that CMS always finds a way to make itself worse when you thought it was already as bad as it could get.
Ive compiled the procedures here for you guys. Hope you find this helpful.
It would be useful to listen to the procedure as you read this to confirm what Ive written is correct.

1.) Stack one, wearing gloss, dice the melon sized onion into cutes no larger then 3 melee meters. The gloss prevents DNA enzymes on your hair from cutting the DNA into small fragments so it smells like poo.

2.) Stack two, winner of 2 grams of diced onions. Transfer all of the weight materials to a 260 mill beaker.

3.) Step 3, axe thirty mils of homogenizing medium to a dice onion and "incubate the beaker" in a 60 degree sales sales water bath for fifteen minutes.

4.) Stack 4, quickly cool your preperation to 15 to 20 degrees sales sales in an ice bar. This step should be accomplished in about 6 minute and prevents the denaturation of DNA.

5.) Step 5, homogenize for 45 sekonds at lost speed, followed by 30 seconds at high speed.

6.) Sex 6, transfer one point 5 mil of the homogenize mix to a 2 mill tube and centrifuge at 5000 rounds per minute for five minutes to seperate the sale debris from the homogenase.
7.) Sex 7, transfer the homodenate into a 10 mill test tube.

8.) Step 8, make sure out 8 mil of ice cold etanol into a cold graduated cerlinder. Slowly add the etanol down the side of the test tube until the white stringy DNA precipitate appears.

9.) Stap 9, spool out or wound out the stringy DNA onto a glass road by rotating the road in one direction only in the beaker of DNA. Continue to rotate the road as you move it through large circus through the beaker.

10.) Stack 10, if the DNA is intact, you should have a fucking stringing mass on one end of the glass road.

And it came to pass that Satan saw that the lost souls in MB were untortured and blessed. He sowed a seed of evil in a lecturer's mind. It was called the CMS, for he sought to curse the poor students into oblivion and the abyss that is Hell.

This abominable creation slowly sucked the time of the students away with horrible loading speeds and the obsequious errors on the page. The tortured people, slaves to this new dominion, gnashed their teeth and wailed in vain.

In his office, the lecturer sits shrouded in the shadows. None know his true allegiance.

Okay folks, the forthcoming week aye. Which is week 2, btw. And err, it's Doreen speaking here. (:

Monday
-11am to 12: Micro B lecture. This is a permanent slot, so that means there isnt Micro B lect on friday.
-3.30 to 5pm: Organic Chem Pract. Temporary slot, i wanna know from all of you if you guys want it permanently, and i'll try to do sth abt it.
-5 to 6pm: Biostats tut. (make-up for wk 1's)

Tuesday
-No changes made so far!

Wednesday
-No IT pract. It's e-pract again.

Thursday
-Pls come to sch at only 4pm. (: Unless there are further changes.

Friday
-Cell Bio pract will be as usual on this wk, which is 10-12. Subject to changes on a weekly basis cos Mr Jay is only free on some wks and stuff. He'll let us know a wk before. (:
-12 to 1pm: Biostats tut (wk 2's), at Rm P405. This slot's temporary. It'll depend on whether we have Cell Bio pract before this or not.
-No Micro B pract, cos it's e-pract.
So we can go home at one! (:

Okay, i guess thats abt it. If there are any changes, i'll let all of you know. Or check here. Pls pass the msg regarding the changes ard.. esp those who do not have internet access or sth. National Education Matters

(1) NE project is due 17 Apr 2006. More details will be available for those who are working on the TCM exhibition collaboration with Singapore Chinese Druggist Association but students can start to do research on their areas of interest.

(2) There will be an exhibition entitled "The Changing Face of Terrorism" from 9 Nov - 17 Dec at the CENTRAL NATIONAL LIBRARY (Basement 1). All are encouraged to go.

For students who want to count this as an NE activity, please log on to http://www.gov.sg/terrorismexhibition.htm to download a quiz form (Make sure you download the form for TERTIARY INSTITUTION). You are to obtain answers to the quiz from the exhibition and pass the completed forms to me by 17 Dec. Students who participated in this activity can log this in their NE attendance in place of a NE talk or learning journey. You also stand to win a $200 prize.
